A really great example of a large weathered pillar cap could be used for many things in the garden.

Description

Pieces like these are commonly used to cap entrance pillars, piers, or garden walls for architectural decoration and protection.

This pillar cap would have been part of a larger piece, possibly having a sphere and its stand above it.

I think this may work really well as a stand or small plinth for a plant pot or chimney pot.

The prominent texture features fine, vertical parallel lines across the front face. This is a traditional “tooled” or “chiselled” finish hand-crafted by historical stonemasons using a mallet and pitching tool.

The dark grey, blackened exterior layer is a natural patina resulting from decades of atmospheric weathering, soot buildup, and organic growth like lichen. The lighter beige-tan tone showing at the chipped corner and base reveals the stone’s original internal coloring.
