Reclaimed Sun Aged Print titled “Portrait of the Short Horned Bull Patriot”. Thomas Weaver and William Ward
It was engraved by William Ward in Shrewsbury in 1810, based on a painting by Thomas Weaver.
The print depicts a prize-winning Short Horned Bull named Patriot in a rural landscape, with a man and a dog in the foreground and a windmill in the background.
These livestock portraits were popular in 19th-century Britain and served as displays of wealth and agricultural advancements.
The print is part of the Paul Mellon Collection at the Yale Center for British Art.
